  • Pre-registration is required. Participants will be required to prepay and re-register with either a CHECK or MONEY ORDER no less than TWO weeks prior to the exam sessions. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS.
  • Fees are: Core exam $75.00; Dealer exam $25.00; Category exam $25.00; Categories 12A, 12B, and 12D $50.00 per category. Bona fide students may pay a reduced fee of $25.00 with proof of current student status.
  • All participants must present a photo ID (e.g. driver's license) at the exam session.
  • Exams begin at 9:30 a.m.
  • Exam sessions lasts three hours.

The core exam must be passed before scores on category or dealer exams will be accepted. Applicators who have already passed the core exam in previous exam sessions may test in additional categories provided they have PREPAID AND PRE-REGISTERED FOR THEM.

Training material is available through the Bulletin Room for a fee, using the order form provided or call (864.656.3261) or (1.888.772.2665). Materials should be ordered well in advance. No training is provided at the exam sessions.

Certified commercial applicators who sell restricted use pesticides must also be licensed as pesticide dealers. Applicators requiring a dealer's license should contact the Department of Pesticide Regulation for an application.

Exams for commercial pesticide applicators & dealers consist of two parts: a 70-question general knowledge "Core" exam covering pesticide labels, environmental factors, knowledge of pesticides and pests, pesticide laws, pesticide equipment and pesticide application techniques, and safe pesticide use; and a 30-question "category" or "Dealer" exam covering specific areas of pesticide expertise.

Test questions for exams are derived from category training material and from professional experience.
